The OKCJS school year has officially begun, and we're excited to share that 32 students are enrolled!

Our first day for students in grades 4 through 7 took place on Wednesday, September 9th at TBI. Sunday classes kicked off on September 20th at CoM for students from Pre-K to 7th grade.

This year’s teaching staff includes: Rabbi Goldman, Rabbi Schicker, Jen Rubin, Cary Mannaberg, Aaliyah Smith, Brenna Siskind, Evan Scheinker, Lucas Ofstein and Abram Wasser.

Our Rabbis organized family-oriented services for the High Holidays. Rabbi Goldman guided an energetic Rosh Hashanah Experience that included movement, scarves, tambourines and shakers. Rabbi Schicker led a Yom Kippur service that featured prompts including Legos. Naomi Morse brought a musical element to the service along with a new piece about Jonah and the Whale.

But the holiday festivities aren’t over yet! During Jewish Studies, students had the chance to help build a Sukkah. Be sure to check your congregation's email or newsletter for upcoming opportunities to celebrate Sukkot in a Sukkah!

Mark your calendars for our first Student-led service on Friday, October 16th at TBI. Services will begin at 6:00 PM, followed by dinner. Everyone is welcome to join us. RSVP using this link.

OKCJS will also celebrate the first of many B’nai Mitzvot this year with Rachel Shapiro’s Bat Mitzvah, taking place the weekend of October 30-31 at TBI.

We invite community members to volunteer for our OKCJS events. If there’s a specific holiday or event you’d like to help plan or support, please reach out to Angie Saltzman by email at okcjsdirector@gmail.com.

Shalom-

Angie Saltzman, Director
